Hi everyone,
We’ve just published a major proposal on the Celo Forum outlining two strategic changes for the Mento Protocol:
-
Stablecoin Rebranding:
We’re proposing to rename all Mento stablecoins using a unified naming convention — for example,cUSDbecomesUSDm,cEURbecomesEURm, etc.
This aligns with our multichain strategy and reinforces Mento’s identity as a cross-chain FX infrastructure. -
CDP-Based Stablecoin Transition:
We propose to transition all Mento stablecoins (except USDm) from the current reserve-backed model to a CDP-based model base on Liquity v2, where minting happens via collateralized debt positions anchored on Celo.
This brings capital efficiency, decentralized yield, and native multichain functionality — all while driving more TVL and utility to the Celo ecosystem.
